The Practices of Saudi Arabia Are Not Proof Of Islam – Here’s Why You Should Desist From Imposing Them On Others.

السّلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Some people, owing to their narrow mindedness, want to impose every act practiced in Saudi Arabia on the entire world and narrow the vast nature of Islam. But they should take a lesson from the broad mindedness of Imam Malik (rh). Caliph Harun al Rashid (rh) wished to enforce Muwatta of Imam Malik throughout the world as a primary book of law. But Imam Malik suggested to him not to do that, because the Companions had spread in every region. They narrated ahadith in every place. Thus, the people of every region had acquired knowledge from those Companions, while Imam Malik had collected the knowledge of only Madinah. (Majmu’ al Fatawa: V. 2, p. 311, Faid al-Qadir. There’s Something About Istikharah That You Probably Do Not Know.

السّلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

Firstly, I’d like to apologize for not updating the the.ijtema® for so long.  I feel at least two posts a month should be par for the course, so I’ll be aiming for that now.

Better Late Than Never – A Modern Muslim Woman Returns Home.

As salaamu alaii kumm wa rahmatullahi wa barakath,

The.Ijtema® usually does not feature such short articles, but the following story is so poignant, I had to share. Its remarkable how modern women with decades of worldly education and ‘worldly’ experience are still preferring to get duped at the expense of no less than the hereafter. What it really means is, worldly education, its (non existent) values are not enough and that protection is only upon practicing upon Deen, upon adopting Taqwa, that protection is only from Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala and none else. It should be noted that such cases which occur quite frequently are hardly reported in the media for fear of social embarrassment and ignominy.

A Muslim women returns home, bitter and humbled but wise and knowing. Yet, better late than never.

The following article which appeared in the October (1st – 15th) edition of The Milli Gazette is presented ‘as-is’ with absolutely no changes whatsoever.  Continue reading

qmThe Internet – that amazing super thing through the help of which you are reading this has among the many positives its done has also exposed laymen to a multitude of opinions of scholars on fiqh (jurisprudential matters in Islam) leading them to pick and choose fatwas, for example, on music, even though however isolated, however far they may be from the majority, agreeing opinions of the bulk of the scholars. Remember, all this is almost always to cater to the whims and fancies of the nafs (self) and not to follow the religion in its entirety (which needs to be the goal)…leading them to their own detriment. Detriment?

Read on to know why.

The following are some great advices of top Syrian Shaykh, Al Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad Awwamah’s (damath baraka tuhum) given to students who wish to follow isolated opinions of scholars.  Continue reading
